ABOUT THE MUSTANG BATTALION

The mission of JROTC is to develop young people to be better citizens. The CMHS JROTC Battalion was created in 1982. It has provided character and leadership education to thousands of students. JROTC is open to all students regardless of grade level, and there is no military obligation for participation.

The structure for our four year program is: first-year students are LET I's, second year students are LET II's, third year students are LET III's, and fourth year students are LET IV's. Many students will take just the first two years of the program, which replaces the high school Health and PE requirement.

Each Veteran's Day we conduct a traditional Pass-In-Review ceremony while recognizing the service and sacrifices of our nation's veterans. The highlight of this event is the recognition of local veterans who have provided selfless service to our nation in peace and war.

School and community involvement includes hosting the school's 9-11 ceremony, Adventure Challenge and Orienteering Competitions, Community Parades, Drill & Color Guard Competitions, Varsity & Junior Varsity Marksmanship Teams, JROTC Academic Teams, and sponsoring a tutoring program to assist students with their academic subjects. Every year we conduct the Spring Formal, better known as Military Ball, and an Awards Ceremony; two events often considered the highlight of the year.
